Carmack: id's mobile division closed to focus on Doom 4
Speaking earlier today at QuakeCon, id Software's John Carmack said that Doom 4, currently in development, would be “done when it's done.” He went on to announce that id Software had shut down its mobile division to free up more staff for work on AAA console titles like Doom 4.
"The Bethesda family really is about swinging for the fences. I hope that we do get back to mobile in various ways in the future, but the real aim is blockbuster triple-A titles, and for id that means Doom 4,” said Carmack. “Essentially everybody will be focused on Doom 4 as a project."
