Capcom re-evaluating stance on on-disc DLC

Capcom has come under fire in recent months for their practice of putting future downloadable content on retail discs. Though the company has stated there's "no distinction" between DLC on the disc and full downloads, the debate has continued amongst consumers and Capcom.
After continuing to catch a lot of heat, it appears Capcom is softening their stance on the idea of on-disc DLC. Senior VP Christian Svensson reached out via the Capcom Unity blog to release a statement on the matter. "We would like to assure you that we have been listening to your comments and as such have begun the process of re-evaluating how such additional game content is delivered in the future," Svensson said. Since the internal discussions have only just begun, there will still be some Capcom titles, such as Dragon's Dogma, that will include on-disc DLC. Of course, not all of the planned DLC for the RPG was included on the disc, but Svensson made sure to emphasize the decision for on-disc DLC for Dragon's Dogma happened very early in the development process.
Svensson closed by letting the fans on Capcom’s blog know they were "being heard," and that on-disc DLC is likely on its way out. Though the removal of on-disc DLC won’t likely take place until later in the year (when games not already far along in development are scheduled to ship), at least Capcom is working to address the issue.
