Capcom hopes to do more 2D titles in the future

Capcom’s recent HD remakes of classic fighters Super Street Fighter II Turbo Edition, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and Street Fighter III: Third Strike not only featured fantastic updated 2D graphics, but were also critical and commercial successes. Though there hasn’t been much talk about Capcom revisiting other 2D titles for a high-definition makeover, the developer doesn’t want to rule out the possibility of future remakes. In a Capcom Unity forum post (pointed out by Siliconera), where one fan asked for more Street Fighter HD remixes, Capcom’s Christian Svensson replied, “I’d like to do more 2D stuff in the future like [Street Fighter].”
Of course, that statement comes with a few caveats. Number one being the cost of development. “The costs of doing a project like that today, with the attention to detail/features that SF3:Online Edition had, it would be difficult for sales forecasts to shoulder,” Svensson added. Super Street Fighter II: Turbo Edition HD Remix was a very costly project for Capcom, as according to Svensson, the company threw out more than 2500 frames of animation they weren’t happy with, and had to do them all over again. Just because the endeavors are costly, Svensson doesn’t rule them out completely. Happy with the previous HD projects on the critical, commercial, and fan fronts, and he tells fans, “We’ll see what the future holds.”
There probably isn’t a new HD remake on the way anytime soon, but just knowing that Capcom is open to the idea of revisiting more classic 2D franchises is good news. What titles would you like to see get an HD upgrade?

It'd be great to see either a new HD DarkStalkers XBLA/PSN game or an HD/SD DarkStalkers collection. Capcom also has the Marvel license, so what's stopping them from releasing XBLA/PSN ports of the coin-op X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, and Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes? Or maybe an enhanced port of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, since I can't find anybody who wants to play against cos it's a 'Wii game,' and therefore isn't taken seriously, which is utter bollocks.
