Call of Duty Elite has 2.3 million Premium subscribers

After seven months, Activision's Call of Duty Elite service has garnered some 12 million users. What's more, during their most recent investor relations call, Activision revealed that 2.3 million of those people are Premium subscribers.
With the amount of content delivered by the service, it's not really surprising that the number of paid subscribers surpassed two million. With Elite Premium's $50 price tag, Activision's investors are surely happy to hear that so many people have taken the plunge. However, there hasn't been anywhere near as much growth over the last seven months as there was when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 helped launch Elite.
Back in November of last year, Activision reported Elite already having 1 million subscribers, with 4 million overall users. While there's been a lot of additional sign-ups from people utilizing the free aspects of Elite, the Premium user growth has slowed. For comparison, Battlefield Premium's 1.3 million paid subscribers, achieved in nearly two months, is on pace to catch up with Elite rather quickly.
Of course, the numbers of Elite subscribers could increase dramatically when Black Ops II arrives this November. This will be the first transitional year for Elite, and all eyes will be on Activision to see how they handle year two of this service.
