BioWare suggests you hold onto your Mass Effect 3 saves

Mass Effect 3 isn’t even out yet, but already BioWare is warning players not to get rid of their save files from the game. In an interview with GamerZines (spotted by Eurogamer), Mass Effect 3’s associate producer Mike Gamble was asked if BioWare had plans to make use of the game’s save files in the future. “It wouldn’t be a bad idea [to keep them],” Gamble said. “Obviously I can’t say anything, but it wouldn’t be a bad idea.”
Players were previously able to transfer Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 saves to their respective follow-ups, so it wouldn’t be entirely out of the question for the same thing to happen with Mass Effect 3. Even though the yet-to-be released third game in the series will be the end of Commander Shepard’s story, BioWare does have plans to continue the Mass Effect franchise in the future. Perhaps these new game saves will drastically alter the universe for future entries.
Of course, Gamble could always be alluding to downloadable content that will arrive later. BioWare has stated though that any DLC will fit in seamlessly at any point in the story, so end game saves shouldn’t be affected that much by the DLC. Whether or not fans will be happy with how Mass Effect 3 ends, it’s good to hear that BioWare is thinking of the future of the franchise, and how each player’s game will continue to be different.
