Minesweeper Flags
WORDS BY: Taylor Cocke
We all love Minesweeper. Second to maybe Solitaire, there isn’t really a better way to waste some serious time at work. But if you take away the excitement of having to minimize it every time your boss walks by, does the fun hold up?

Competition is the name of the game in this re-creation of the mouse-and-keyboard original. The namesake mode is a competitive retooling of the PC version, getting players to compete in flagging the greatest number of mines. Unfortunately, the game moves along so slowly that there’s little to keep alight your burning desire for victory.
Of course, the classic Minesweeper mode is present, but the coolest addition is the new Campaign mode. Rather than the traditional rectangular levels, the campaign features oddly shaped levels, sometimes even with holes in the middle. Only the most avid Minesweeper fans will find the game entertaining for more than a couple of hours — but for five bucks, that’s a pretty fair deal.

This type of minesweeper looks pretty fun actually. More realistic having a real mine field and trying to play the game. Then again, this game got old after a short time.

Ok Minesweeper was fun in the 90s when there was nothing else to play on a computer but now we've got flash games, come on! It's sad it took this long for something as simple as this to be ported lol.

One would think that the cost of the game, such as minesweeper, alone would lower the rating of the game down to a 1 possibly 2. Minesweeper can be found on any PC for free. Who in their right mind would pay $5 on something so basic as Minesweeper? What's worse is that it's being reviewed! I understand that this is a magazine based on Microsoft's console, the Xbox 360, but geez where is our dignity?
This goes to show that anything with pretty graphics will be excepted by the media, labeling it fresh or new when it really isn't. And don't say that the media doesn't except this these type of games when they clearly do through the review score. It's pathetic and embarrassing.

this just as bad as games like MLB manager 2009 or some sort of game that makes you manage crap. i never liked minesweeper. its boring and porting it to XBL arcade is the worst idea ever.
