The Incredible Hulk
WORDS BY: Chuck Osborn

Marvel Comics’ green goliath takes on Manhattan in yet another free-roaming action game set in the confines of New York City. The Incredible Hulk follows the basic plot of its movie inspiration: scientist Bruce Banner, on the run from the U.S. Army, attempts to cure himself of his destructive persona before the Hulk can be turned into the ultimate weapon.

The game makes the most of its overused surroundings by allowing you to destroy just about everything, including famous landmarks. Most story missions require you to smash enemies and buildings, and some escort and protection levels are thrown in for variety. But given that most of your adversaries are endless swarms of tanks, soldiers, and flying mechs, even the break-it-all action becomes repetitive after a while, and too few of the Hulk’s rogues (like Bi-Beast and Abomination) liven up the party. Demolishing a city may make for a fun weekend rental, but not quite an incredible one.

Grognard66 I'm almost done with the campain but I have yet to have a lock up issue. It's strange, I also have the gamestop version of the game and so do some of my friends but only one of the 5 of us have this problem. I'm hoping that sega will fix some problems when they actualy patch in multiplayer.

The score seems a little low to me - I would probably give it around a 7.5
Pop-in, collision detection problems, and frequent lock-ups keep the score down on this one. I hope (but doubt) that Sega will patch the game to address the many lockup issues.
The official x-box forums have a thread about the lock ups and it seems the problem may be just with the Gamestop version (which is the one I have).

I for one don't agree with review. I bought the game Friday and love it. I just love having that kind of power. Don't let the score stop you from playing this game people.

Addition to Last Post
Sure the game has it's flaws including it's draw distance, the only decent minigames, and the absolutly worst first level (starts a warehouse in Brazil) but those are all eaisily tolerable after a little. If these don't sound to bad you might like this game.

I agree with Chuck in some regard. Yes the action does get reptitive at times. But, I belive that this game is great because you can level up your moves (and unlock new ones), use tons of things as weapons, climb 50 landmarks and tons of other building, you can even go on giant chases with the military trying to get your "Wanted" level as high as possible. I bought this game and expected very litte, but it turned out to be a blast. If you see any fun runing around Manhattan causing causeing definatly worth a rent and since Sega promises a patch that will add multiplayer, Hulk might just be worth a buy.
