This Week In Xbox - 4/17

WORDS BY: Taylor Cocke
Welcome to Arkham Asylum, Puddin'

Excitement for the much-anticipated Batman: Arkham Asylum builds as more and more info leaks out to the internet. After the Collector’s Edition, which includes a full-on Batarang (!), was announced to the public, two trailers have popped up that reveal some very exciting villains. The first video, coming to us from Joystiq, shows a Venom-powered Bane breaking his bonds to get after the Dark Knight, while the second shows a manic Harley Quinn jumping and flipping into a confrontation with the Bat. Expect to see the game float into stores sometime this year.

VERDICT: Wow, now if we can only get the new movies to get these villains in, we’ll be golden. Yeah, Bane was in Batman & Robin, but I like to pretend that movie doesn’t exist.

Get That Kick Button Tappin’

DLC is coming for Street Fighter IV, and 1UP tells us that it's free, free, free! The new Championship Mode allows players to take part in online tournaments to score “Grade Points” in order to proceed into higher levels of the tournaments, and when players win a tournament, they are awarded “Championship Points,” which are essentially prize money. Presumably, these bouts will eventually lead to players being crowned as top tier in the future. Save-able replays are also being added to the mix, with the ability of players to watch other bouts and follow the moves in real-time. Championship Mode hits Marketplace on April 24.

VERDICT: If I didn’t get constantly dominated online, I would be way more excited about this, but it’s an awesome idea, and we definitely hope to see more like this in the future!

What’re You Lookin’ At, Bub?

Excited for X-Men Origins: Wolverine? Lucky for you, Activision is enticing us with all sorts of trailers that reveal new characters, levels, and gameplay. In our favorite, just as with the Arkham Asylum previews (see above), Activision teases who you’ll be battling in your adventures to figure out your, well, origins. In one, we see a rooftop battle with Gambit, a rumble with The Blob, a take-down of a helicopter, and even a brief glimpse of a mid-air skirmish with a Sentinel. You can check out the full trailer right here, courtesy of Joystiq.

VERDICT: No…words…to…describe…awesome…

Come On Down!

Microsoft has finally shown Team Xbox a first glimpse of its upcoming Primetime title, 1 vs. 100. Players will be given the opportunity to not only be a contestant or member of the mob playing against them, they will also be allowed to play as the host. Players will be competing for real prizes via Xbox Live, although there’s no word as to what these prizes will be. The release date for the service has not been announced yet.

VERDICT: Why can’t we have Bob Saget host the whole time? He’s not doing anything anyway.

Want More Terminator? No Problemo.

GRIN Studios has given Joystiq a brand-new glimpse into the Terminator universe with a trailer for their game based on Terminator: Salvation. The footage gives us actual gameplay footage, as well as some more story-based dialogue and character interaction. It’s the first time we’ve seen the Christian Bale-less cast interact. Terminator: Salvation will be hitting stores on May 19.

VERDICT: Ugh, is it too late to get Christian Bale to re-voice everything?
