Rock Band Download Low-Down: Week 43

WORDS BY: OXM Staff

Each week we’ll run out onto our website stage like roadies and review the latest Rock Band Downloadable Content. Check back every week! (And click here for all of our previous music DLC reviews.)

*NOTE: Each of the songs this week is available for 80 Microsoft Points ($1) each, or bundled together as the All That Remains Pack for 240 Microsoft Points ($3).

All That Remains Pack

WHAT ROCKS: Expecting the same turbo-strum, growly-vocal scream-o rock we've seen in Rock Band before, we were pleasantly surprised to find that, by and large, this trio of All That Remains tunes is hardly that at all. In fact, the guitar work is mostly alt-strum free, highlighted by the steadily-moving, melodic frets on "Two Weeks." Meanwhile, drums on both "Chiron" and "This Calling" are among the most challenging in the game.

WHAT SUCKS: The bassist won't have much to do on any of these three songs, and vocalists who aren't a fan of growling lyrics won't be pleased during certain sections of these songs.

FINAL VERDICT: We were prepared for the same-old scream-o formula this week, but All That Remains was a pleasant surprise. And as always, it's tough to resist anything but the worst garbage when the songs are just a buck each.

COMMENTS:

just so ya know, death magnetic is worth buying ( if you like friggin hard! )

To get short song reviews and, better yet, sight-reads (just to show the chart...he makes note of this) of the expert guitar charts (sorry drummers), check out Npeaen's videos on youtube. He usually has them up first day.

More dlc reviews please... This used to be my main source for which dlc to buy but you guys have stopped posting and I would like to know if Death Magnetic is worth getting and Peace Sells but Who's Buying and the new Red Hot Chili Peppers tunes...

come on oxm! give us more dlc reviews! this ismpotant to us dlc lovers cause this is the only decently organized site where we can get dlc reviews. please?

YES!! MORE REVIEWS!!

are there gunna b any more download reviews? cause there havent been any since this 1 and its been about 2 weeks

Are there any other sources that people have found for a review of song DLC?

i think oxm may have quit reviewing the music game dlc. its either its getting too sucky, or its getting too hard. (the latter is my guess of why there's no dragonforce track pack review, it came out a month ago for crying out loud!!!!!!!!!!)

I'm playing Peace Sells, But Who's Buying right now. How come there wasn't a review on that entire album ?

FIRST OF ALL

@ cashwheel,

death magnetic is an awsome album title. and its GH 3 and world tour exclusive.

Is Death Magnetic (uhh... such a lame title...) also coming to Rock Band as well as Guitar Hero?

All That Remains... meh. It's ok, god bless the coming of Rock Band 2. I need some new vocals.

where the heck is the d*** dragonforce track pack review?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I agree, they are excellent songs and very, very fun to play. All That Remains is not, however (and thankfully), screamo.

WHERE THE HECK IS RUSH!
