Rock Band Download Low-Down: Week 41

WORDS BY: OXM Staff

Each week we’ll run out onto our website stage like roadies and review the latest Rock Band Downloadable Content. Check back every week! (And click here for all of our previous music DLC reviews.)

*NOTE: Each of the songs this week is available for 80 Microsoft Points ($1) each, or as the Locksley Pack for 240 Microsoft Points ($3) for a limited time. Effective October 1, the prices will be 160 Points/$2 each and 440 Points/$5.50 for the pack.

Locksley Pack

WHAT ROCKS: Your knee-jerk reaction to this band you've surely never heard of might be to write them off as a group of wannabe-hip 20-somethings who are trying to emulate the sound of the Beatles records they grew up listening to in their parents' basements. But give it a listen -- and try it out in Rock Band -- and you'll find that while yes, they are a new band trying to sound old, they do a pretty damn fine job of it. The guitar part is the highlight instrument on all three songs -- "All Over Again," "Don't Make Me Wait," and "She Does" -- as it'll keep your fingers moving without too much repetition. Drums are decent except on "Don't Make Me Wait," where they're both varied and engaging.

WHAT SUCKS: The bass line is rather boring on all three of these tunes.

FINAL VERDICT: Definitely worth a buck each. They might be a small consolation prize for the absence of the scheduled Rush album this week, but don't hold that against Locksley.

COMMENTS:

Good review, very accurate. Definitely give this pack a chance.

Honestly, I prefer to sing songs I like because I get more into it and involved, so I would probably never buy this because I've never heard of these guys, just like everyone else. Please Harmonix, give us something, heck, I'll take anything at this point. Last good DLC for me was the last Crue fest pack.

MORE MEGADETH

Nothing has excited me as much as Screaming For Vengeance did, well, except RB2. Harmonix has thousands of AWESOME metal albums to choose from, and they are slow to capitalize...

I want full albums by these bands: Black Sabbath, Pantera, Megadeth, Killswitch Engage, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Danzig, Fear Factory, Lamb of God, Shadows Fall, Black Label Society, TOOL, Manson, Slipknot, Wednesday 13 etc. etc.

I'll settle for ONE! (for now)

Eh, not liking DF is understandable (they're pretty good, but their drummer tends to be a little repetitive). And as for Death Magnetic, from what I've heard from the album ("The Day that Never Comes" and "Cyanide") it should be really good, so long as your into their old stuff (like I am).

how can you not like dragonforce? they're awsome! hey oxm, if you need someone to review the dragonforce track pack for you im your man! : ) however death magnetic should be pretty good. (dlc and album) (if its nothing like st. anger)

Cash, it's coming when they can beat the ZOMG hard DF songs. I personally don't like DF, I am waiting for Death Magnetic.

I listen to my Beatles albums upstairs

RUSH GOT DELAYED! When did this happen!? Im gonna go and cry in a corner. *sniff, sniff*

Hey, Dan, when's a review for the DragonForce pack coming?
