"Why don't I like Fallout 3? I just am not getting into it. I'm about 4 hours in and I'm supposed to be looking for a radio station. I am taking my time, doing some exploring and really trying to enjoy it. While I'm playing though, all I can think about is wanting to play something else."

2,000 Pennies or Less: Gun

WORDS BY: Dan Amrich

GUN
Platform: Xbox 360
Backward-Compatible: N/A
Price: $20 new, $15 used

Like Billy the Kid, Gun on Xbox 360 is brutal, full of swear words, and surprisingly short. When it hit 360 during its launch period, this Western action/adventure was praised for its quality voice acting and gritty “Grand Theft Pinto” vibe, but soundly criticized for its not-very-next-gen graphics and 10-hour run time.

A few years later, it’s amazing how a $40 price-reduction increases your tolerance of ugly textures. Now, it’s worth paying $20 for Gun’s pleasantly mature storyline and tight pacing — not to mention nearly 800 Gamerscore if you finish the game on Medium and tackle all the gold-minin’, critter-huntin’, poker-playin’ missions.

We spotted this game new for $19.99 at electronics chain Fry’s (and frys.com), but you can often rustle it up used for under $15 from Amazon and eBay.
