Poor, poor Alan Wake. Even though we went on record exhorting the gripping survival horror game, it didn't perform as well with customers. Usually, failing at retail is a kiss of death for any franchise, but Remedy Entertainment isn't going to let Wake go without a fight. Today, the company confirmed that the series will be resurrected in a different form than before.

Remedy delivered the news via Facebook today, noting "Alan Wake returns through Xbox Live Arcade," a fact corroborated when Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb stated (via Twitter) that it would be a fully standalone experience. According to all parties, Game Informer will have a teaser image for the game soon, with a video reveal occurring at Spike's Video Game Awards on December 10.

What are you hoping to see from Wake on XBLA? A Case Zero-style "vertical slice" containing a small (but all-new) world for Alan Wake? A top-down or 2D-style re-imagining of Wake's world? Or would you rather the writer express himself with a graphic novel or text adventure-style game?
