Activision, EA reach settlement on Infinity Ward firings; West/Zampella suit remains

After over two years of sniping from both sides, the war of attrition between Activision and EA over the departures of Infinity Ward's Jason West and Vince Zampella (and their subsequent hiring by EA) may be reaching its end. The two largest publishers in the United States issued a joint statement saying "Activision and EA have agreed to put this matter behind them."
The case between the companies was scheduled to go to court on May 29, though the suit was years in the making as the former Infinity Ward heads sued their former publishing partner for wrongful termination, with Activision counter-suing EA for unlawful hiring practices when recruiting the duo to form Respawn Studios. Activision has been in a conciliatory mood with former developers, as the company doled out $42 million to a collective of ex-Infinity Ward employees, though the move was not declared a court settlement.
The case between the Infinity Ward duo and their former employers continues (and will commence as promised on May 29), though given the major moves made recently, another settlement wouldn't be out of the ordinary. While neither EA no Activision have revealed any details of their settlement, this case has been out in the open since it began, so you can expect some information to leak online in the coming days and weeks.
