Activision delays court date for Infinity Ward case

The trial date for the case between Infinity Ward founders Jason West and Vince Zampella and Activision has been delayed to May 29, 2012. West and Zampella allege that Activision owe them $125 million in unpaid royalties, and also seek to gain control of the Modern Warfare brand. Activision is counter-suing Electronic Arts for $400 million as part of the suit, claiming it was conspiring illegally with West and Zampella while they were still Activision employees.
The original court date for the trial was May 7, but it was moved back at Activision's request. The suit's roots go back to 2010, when Activision fired West and Zampella. Activision alleged that the two were having secret meetings with Electronic Arts and planning to undermine the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare brand. West and Zampella went on to found their own studio, Respawn Entertainment, and now employ over 40 former Infinity Ward developers.
