Activision, EA reach settlement on Infinity Ward firings; West/Zampella suit remains

The war of attrition between Activision and EA over the departures of former Infinity Ward leads Jason West and Vince Zampella may finally be over, as reports say the companies have reached a settlement less than two weeks before they were scheduled to meet in court. The now-founders of Respawn Entertainment, however, still have their suit with Activision unsettled.

Did Activision break its contract with Infinity Ward by allowing Treyarch to develop Black Ops II? Documents released as part of Activision's suit with Infinity Ward founders Zampella and West indicate that the developer's Memorandum of Understanding with Activision grants the developer exclusive rights to creating Call of Duty games that take place "post-Vietnam."
