007 Skyfall reportedly getting a video game tie-in

2012 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the best thing to ever come out of the United Kingdom, James Bond. In addition to a new movie (the third consecutive for Daniel Craig), there are plans for a new documentary, a lavish Bond-car exhibit at Beaulieu, and according to Empire magazine, a new video game. TheSixthAxis spotted the Empire article, which previewed the latest 007 film Skyfall. Details are a bit sparse for the time being, but one would imagine that the game would put you in the shoes of the world’s most famous fictional spy in a combination of shooting and driving sequences.
Though there hasn’t been any actual confirmation as of yet from Activision, a Skyfall video game would make four Bond titles (if you count both versions of the Goldeneye remake) in three years for the publisher. The last official movie tie-in game, Quantum of Solace, was not treated very kindly by critics, and 007: Blood Stone performed so poorly Bizarre Creations had to close. Since the movie isn’t due out until late this year, it’s unlikely that we’ll hear any more details, or even who’s developing the game, until we’re closer to the movie’s release date. That said, Skyfall will be the first film in the Daniel Craig Bond-verse to feature tech wizard Q. Hopefully we’ll get to see some sweet gadgetry like a watch laser or pen grenade. On second thought, those aren’t that cool.
